As you may know from reading this blog, Jiu-jutsu or Jiu-do: Selection from Kodokwan Method is the book I am currently working on reprinting. I made a big push this weekend and got my files out, so I’m just waiting on a proof copy now. I thought the cover turned out pretty well and wanted to share (plus I didn’t have time to draft any posts this weekend!):
It doesn’t scale down to this size really crisply, but you get the idea. The goal was to keep the original look and feel, but clean it up and draw the colors out some, which was painstaking, but worked. In fact, the original cover was so dark and dim that I had always thought the red was just a banner flowing through the text. It wasn’t until I started cleaning it up that I realized it was an arm!
Anyway, if everything goes right, we could be looking at having this ready in a week or two.

Hi Lance, will do. I actually have a proof copy which looks very nice. However, some of the illustrations were either stretched or scrunched. Probably not enough that you would notice without the original open, but it bothered me enough that I am going to go through and put them in again. Unfortunately, that sets everything else off, plus with there being 90 or so, it is simply time consuming.
In the meantime, I’ve finished and made available “Fall Guys” but I haven’t announced it yet. Stay tuned!
